DevGate builds software and engineering solutions for clients across industries. We are growing our engineering team and looking for an experienced MERN Stack Developer who can build fast, scalable and maintainable web applications from database to UI.

Role Overview

You will work across the full MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) to design, build and ship production-grade web applications. You will collaborate with designers, product managers and other engineers, own features from planning through deployment, and help set technical direction and code quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React and Node.js Architect scalable backend services and design clean, versioned RESTful APIs (and GraphQL where needed) Build reusable, performant and responsive React components and user interfaces Implement secure authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth, role-based access) Model and optimize MongoDB schemas, aggregation pipelines, queries and indexes Integrate third-party services, payment gateways and APIs Write unit and integration tests and enforce code quality through code reviews Optimize applications for performance, scalability and security Deploy and maintain applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud services Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and mentor junior developers

Required Qualifications

4+ years of professional experience with the MERN stack Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript Deep experience with React.js (hooks, context, Redux/Zustand or similar state management) Strong backend experience with Node.js and Express.js Hands-on experience with MongoDB (Mongoose, aggregation pipelines, indexing, performance tuning) Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs in production Proficiency with Git, HTML5, CSS3 and a modern CSS framework (Tailwind, Material UI or similar) Solid understanding of web security basics (XSS, CSRF, input validation) and system design Good communication skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Next.js, server-side rendering and static generation Familiarity with Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure and CI/CD workflows Experience with Redis, WebSockets or real-time features Knowledge of testing tools (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress) Experience with microservices, message queues or serverless architectures Exposure to AI/LLM API integrations Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
